Our service

Uncover provides independent California unclaimed-property search and business-claim preparation tools. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the California State Controller’s Office. You can search and claim directly from the state at no charge through California’s official service.

Records and checklists

Public records are dated snapshots and may be incomplete or out of date. A matching name, reported balance or document checklist does not establish ownership, eligibility or a guaranteed recovery.

Verify current property details and follow the instructions supplied with your official claim packet. Business checklists identify supporting sources and unresolved questions; they do not replace claim-specific instructions or legal advice. The State Controller determines entitlement and payment.

Your account and authority

Provide accurate information and act for a business only when you are authorized to do so. Keep your sign-in credentials confidential. Do not access another customer’s private information, impersonate an owner, submit false evidence or interfere with the service. Report suspected unauthorized access to our support address.

Recovery services and fees

Using this website does not appoint Uncover to represent you, authorize a filing or create an obligation to pay a recovery fee. Any recovery engagement requires a separate written agreement identifying the claimant, covered property, services and applicable fee. You must review and sign the required documents yourself or through an authorized representative.

For California property subject to Code of Civil Procedure section 1582, recovery agreements must meet its timing and disclosure requirements, compensation cannot exceed 10% of recovered property, and payment cannot be required before the state approves the claim and pays the recovered property to the owner. These terms do not establish a fee or replace that agreement.

Submission and outcomes

A generated checklist or prepared packet is not a submitted claim. Uncover does not currently submit claims to the state. State review may require additional evidence, and recovery amounts and timing are not guaranteed.

Privacy and service changes

Read our privacy notice for how information is handled and how to contact us about it. Features may change or become unavailable. We will post changes to these terms on this page with an updated date; a website update does not amend a separately signed recovery agreement. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
